Installing the Plug-in LGPS Tracking Unit

Getting Started

The LGPS Tracking Unit is a completely self contained device, requiring only a constant power, ground and ignition powered wire to operate. Within the case are two antennas for both GPS data and GSM/GPRS communication. The device connects directly to your vehicles On Board Diagnostics (OBD II) port. Please refer to the instructions below to install your unit(s).

  1. With the vehicle OFF, locate the OBD II connector. If you do not know where the OBD II connector is on your vehicle, the following website may provide some information on whwere the connector is located: http://www.obdclearinghouse.com - It is generally located within 2-3 feet of your steering column.
  2. Plug the unit in to the OBD II connector. It will only connect one way so you do not need to worry about connecting it incorrectly. Three LES lights on the outside of the unit should turn on or start blinking.
  3. Wait a few minutes and check the light pattern to make sure your device is ready (see below.)

LED Light Patterns

Green:
Solid - GPS connection not established. The unit will not track if this light is solid.
Blinking - GPS connection established.

Blue:
1 Second On/1 Second Off - The device has no cellular coverage. The unit cannot report events to our server.
1 Second On/3 Seconds Off  - The device has good cellular coverage.

Orange:
When the orange light is on, it is attempting to synch device data to our servers. When the light stops flashing, the unit should be functioning properly.

Troubleshooting

If you are unable to establish a connection for GPS or Cellular, try moving the vehicle to another location. Outside areas with a clear view to the sky should produce the best results. If the light patterns appear to be correct, but you do not see the data appearing in your LimoGPS Tracking Panel, please email support@limogps.com or give us a call at 877-646-2277
