How to Create Geofences
 

What is a Geofence?

Geofences are a user defined areas consisting of at least 3 points. They are used to trigger alerts as soon as a vehicle enters and exits the area. You can assign a maximum of 10 geofences to a tracking unit.

How do I Create a Geofence?

At the bottom of the Maps tab, locate and click on the section labeled "Create Geofences." Next you will chose the type of Geofence to create: Polygon or Square. A Polygon Geofence will allow you to plot points on a map to form the desired area. A Square Geofence will be a 4 point area with two parallel sides.

Polygon: You can now start selecting your points on the map. Clicking on the map will place a marker on the map to act as a point in your geofence. Once you have completed your geofence, give it a title and select a contact to be notified when a vehicles enters/exits the Geofence. Click on the Set Geofence button when completed. You may need to reload the Map tab to see the geofence on the map.

Square: You can start a Square Geofence by starting from an address on the map. (optional: enter an address to locate) Click the Find button and it will attempt to locate an address. If it can not locate an address, it will prompt you to select two point on the map - the top left corner and the bottom right corner. Provide a title for the Geofence and select a contact to be notified. Click on the Set Geofence button when completed. You may need to reload the Map tab to see the geofence on the map.

How do I Assign a Geofence to a Particular Vehicle?

You will need to go to the Vehicle Management tab and click on the section labeled "Geofence Management." It will show your available Geofences. You can add or remove units using the drop down lists next to each Geofence. Additionally, you can delete a Geofence by clicking on the icon in the Delete column.
